BREAKING NEWS: Truck driver airlifted after crash near Portland

A TRUCK driver has been airlifted to Melbourne in a critical condition, after his vehicle rolled over near Portland this afternoon.

The man, who suffered serious head injuries in the accident, was placed on assisted breathing equipment as he was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

The crash occured on the notorious Portland-Nelson Road, Gorae West - a road described by Glenelg Shire mayor Geoff White as one of the worst in the region - about 12.40pm.
