WARRNAMBOOL sparky Mal Price was booted out of the town's Apex club several years ago. But it wasn't because his cheeky nature got him into trouble.
At the time, the cut-off age was 40, so the matter was taken out of his hands.
Now knocking on the door of 50, Mr Price is a Warrnambool Apex life member and still likes to help out where he can, even if it means only donating a few items for the Annual Apex Incredible auction.
This year, Mr Price has bestowed a secondhand spa bath that he hopes will create a bidding frenzy.
"It originally came out of a honeymoon suite at the Manifold Motor Inn in Camperdown, so there would have been a fair bit of action that had gone on in there," Mr Price laughed.
The fibreglass piece will join a long list of other items at the Apex's major fund-raiser to be held on Sunday at the Pertobe Road Army Barracks. Profits will be donated to local charitable causes.
More unusual items auctioned in previous years have included a dumb waiter, market umbrella, toilets and cars.
Apex president Anne-Maree Maguire said donations were still being accepted until today. "The people of Warrnambool have always been generous in previous years and we hope they will continue their generosity in 2008," Ms Maguire said. "As the old saying goes, one man's trash is another's treasure."
Those wanting to donate can contact Greg Kuchel on 0408 053 268, and pick-up will be arranged.
Doors open at 9am with the auction to kick off at 9.30am.
