LEADING reinsman Daryl Douglas declared Christians Daughter a future metropolitan winner after successive wins at Dalvui Raceway, Terang.
The four-year-old Christian Cullen mare toyed with her rivals in yesterday's C4 to C5 pace over 2180 metres, leading throughout to score by 17 metres from Looks Like Lani ($33.30).
With two scratchings, Douglas was able to use Christians Daughter's superior gate speed to pounce on the lead and after a lead time of 43.2 seconds gradually quickened his quarters.
The $2.10 favourite finished with a fourth quarter of 27.8 for a race time of 2:42.2 and mile rate of 1:59.8.
Christians Daughter gave Bendigo-based Douglas an early treble, having won the 2180-metre trotters' handicap with Classic Averill ($3.10) and 1680-metre two-year-old pace with Lot Of Lip ($3.90).
Douglas was so impressed with the form of Christians Daughter he made a bold prediction after the race.
``She will go to Moonee Valley very shortly and win there,'' he said.
``Today was probably the best she's ever gone.''
Christians Daughter is trained at Ballarat by Peter Tonkin, who has had a successful association with Douglas dating back more than eight years.
Douglas has been driving for 17 years and after yesterday's successes is on target to better his season record of 360 winners.
He has now driven more than 330, with the 2007-08 season ending on August 31.
Douglas works seven days a week and on days like yesterday, after completing his commitments at Terang, drove to Cranbourne for drives at a night meeting.
